Today's playlist featured several sets of songs to mark the national observance of the life of the Rev.Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., along with releases new to our playlist from Sierra Hull, Chip Taylor and John Prine, Willie Nelson, Travis, and Steve Howell and the Mighty Men. We also played several songs to mark the passing last week of David Bowie.

Today's program featured two new releases looking at America, one from Kate Campbell, a singer/songwriter from the south, and the other from Wreckless Eric, a musician from England who has toured the US since the ;ate 1970's and has lived here since 2011. We also spoke on the phone with Sloan Wainwright who will inaugurate the 2016 edition of the Sunday Street Series at its new home, the Gillespie Room of the Long Island Museum, on Sunday, January 17th at 3 P.M.

Sunday Street playlist for 01/03/2016

This week's edition of Sunday Street featured new music from Dead Man Fall, Pesky J. Nixon, Jake Walton, and Alan Santoriello. We also played a set of songs inspired by Laurie Anderson's performing a concert in Times Square tomorrow featuring music at decibels only dogs can hear.
On a sad note, we marked the passing of the great singer and songwriter from Scotland, Andy M. Stewart, by playing several songs performed by him throughout the program.

We also shared a powerful new song from Lynn Miles regarding the crisis with refugees from war-torn counties, as well as a new album from Sloan Wainwright and the issue of some recordings from a 1987/1988 Neil Young tour.
