Today's program celebrated the music of Van Morrison, who turns seventy on Monday, August 31st.

Today’s program featured releases new to our playlist from Ana Egge, David Myles, and David Tamulevich. We noted the passing of record producer Bob Johnston by playing tracks from albums he produced for Lindisfarne, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan and also programmed a set of songs to mark the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Lots of music new to our playlist on today's program including releases from James Maddock, Peter Keane, Steeleye Span, Hungrytown and Jonathan Edwards. We also sent some lucky listeners to area shows in the upcoming week including the Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue, Kacey Musgraves at The Paramount in Huntington, and Jonathan Edwards at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett.

A celebration of Bob Dylan's 74th Birthday today with a focus on 1965: the fiftieth anniversary of the release of two seminal Dylan albums, Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisted, as well as Dylan's controversial performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. Also, since Dylan appeared on the next to last David Letterman program this week, we featured a powerful Dylan performance on a 1984 Letterman show.

Today's program remembered satirist Stan Freberg who passed away at age 88 on Tuesday.
