Freddie Bryant on Captain Phil's Planet talks about Upper West Side Love Story

Tune in on Thursday, November 2, for a special guest appearance on Captain Phil's Planet.

Freddie Bryant received a master’s degree in classical guitar from Yale School of Music and is in demand in the New York jazz and Brazilian scenes, where he has worked with Eliane Elias, Tom Harrell and many others. He was a member of Ben Riley’s Monk Legacy Septet and has played with the Mingus Orchestra for two decades.

He leads his own group, Kaleidoscope, and has released eight CDs as a leader. His impressive array of guitar styles have been featured on numerous CDs showcasing his work on acoustic and electric guitars.

This week, Destinies continues its longest-running tradition by bringing you its extra-length 41st annual Halloween Special.

Tune in Friday night, at 11:15 PM, and celebrate the 85th anniversary of The Mercury Theater on the Air's broadcast of "War of the Worlds" with the debut of music from a new, heavy metal interpretation of the material, from the band Insensate Machine.

The band's lead vocalist, and the album's writer and producer Billy Davis will return to the WUSB studio to discuss the project and introduce selections from the album.

Learn about how Billy worked on this album for more than 30 years, before finally releasing it in 2023. Find out which elements of the classic broadcast most inspired the music, and how excerpts from the radio show were incorporated into the album. And discover where you can see Insensate Machine performing live in the near future.
