OUR SHOW TODAY will take a look at the long strange trip that cannabis has taken the last 50 years. We will also attempt to organize the various camps that people are migrating towards in a search for clarity and hope (or a rush to the exits) since the Electoral College victory for 45.

Our featured guest is Scott Giannotti. Scott is the Managing Director for the 4th Annual Cannabis World Congress and Business Exposition in NYC, June 14-16. Giannotti is best known as the founder of the Cannabis and Hemp Association of New York.

AND … Francis Hamit will help us understand the culture of the so-called US Intelligence Community.

Our featured guest is Shireen Al-Adeimi. Shireen, a Yemeni-Canadian-American, is a doctoral candidate and instructor at Harvard University.

Our featured guest is Mark Pingreee. Mark is a PhD student in Comparative Literature at Stony Brook University. Before coming to Stony Brook, he received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Utah and a Master's degree also in philosophy from the London School of Economics. He is an educator in the humanities, teaching courses on media and politics, literature and free will, as well as courses on ethics and values. He will be teaching a documentary film course Fall ‘17.

Our featured guest is investigative reporter Robert Parry. Robert broke many of the Iran-Contra stories for The Associated Press and Newsweek in the 1980s. He was awarded the George Polk Award for National Reporting in 1984 and the I.F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence by Harvard's Nieman Foundation in 2015. Our featured guest is Francis Hamit. Francis is an author and playwright who spent 21 years in the Industrial Security business. Francis served in the U.S. Army Security Agency in Vietnam and Germany. His security career also included consulting about risk assessment and threats to people and property from various hazards, including terrorism. His many writings include “A Perfect Spy” - available on Amazon (e-book and paperback available).

Our featured guest is Ellen Schrecker. Ellen a retired professor of American history at Yeshiva University and is the author of Many Are the Crimes: McCarthyism in America. Schrecker is widely recognized as one of the leading experts on that grim period in our nation's history. Ellen also writes about contemporary academic freedom. Her most recent book, The Lost Soul of Higher Education: The Assault on Academic Freedom, Corporatization, and the End of the American University (The New Press, 2010), looks at some of the recent developments within American higher education.

Our featured guest is Andreas Weigend. Andreas is an expert on social-local-mobile technologies, big data, and consumer behavior, the combination of which he calls the social data revolution. He was the chief scientist at Amazon, where he helped create that company's culture of data, experimentation, and innovation. Andreas is the founder and director of the Social Data Lab, a mentor at Stanford's StartX, and a lecturer at UC Berkeley. His clients include Alibaba, BMW, Deutsche Telekom, GE, Hyatt, Lufthansa, MasterCard, Tencent, and the World Economic Forum. He is the author of “Data For The People” – 2016, Basic Books.

Our featured guest is Sybil Johnson. Sybil is the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area and has an extensive background in management and in the administration of programs in higher education at Farmingdale State College and Hofstra University, and non-profit settings. She is also pursuing a Doctorate in Literacy Studies at Hofstra University. Her areas of strength include fund raising, grant development, program development, multicultural programs, civic/community engagement and STEM/STEAM programs.

Our featured guests are Jeff Keister and Laura Burns. Both are Long Island volunteers with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Jeff lives and works in the Town of Brookhaven. He's a dad of two school-aged children, and is the Local Group Lead for Suffolk County. Laura lives in Nassau County, is a mom of three and serves as Communications Lead for the Moms Demand Action's New York Chapter.

Our Senior California Correspondent Francis Hamit will also join us.

Our featured guest is Beau Grosscup. Beau is a California State University, Chico professor emeritus who taught International Political Economy. His coursework included Intro to International Relations, US Foreign Policy, Politics of Terrorism, Political Economy of Post-Industrial Societies and The Status of Women in Global Patriarchy. His publications include The Newest Explosions of Terrorism: Latest Sites of Terrorism in the 90s and Beyond (New Horizon Press, 1988,), now in its 4th edition, and Strategic Terror: the politics and ethics of aerial bombardment, (Zed Books, 2006) an analysis of strategic bombing theory (Shock and Awe) that focuses on the current state terrorism of the 'bombing nations' (US, Britain, Israel and Russia).

Our featured guest is Poet and Activist Erin Belieu, founder of Writers Resist, launched after our recent elections. Erin is the Director of the Creative Writing Program at Florida State University. She is also co-founded VIDA, a feminist organization dedicated to gender parity. Erin’s message to writers is “we must recommit our focus as writers to the fundamental ideals of democracy and social justice for all.”

Our featured guest is Rebecca Goldin, Stats.org Advisory Board Director and Professor of Mathematics, George Mason University. STATS.org is a statistical literacy project run by Sense About Science USA in collaboration with the American Statistical Association. Her work for STATS.org has been published in The Washington Post, and she has appeared on NBC, CBS, CNN and NPR. She has helped journalists writing for almost a hundred different media outlets. Rebecca has run workshops for journalists and students alike, and has given talks about her work at STATS.org across the country. www.stats.org
