OUR PROGRAM TODAY will focus on the Supreme Court. We will summarize the latest Kavanaugh confirmation drama and also step back and view all of this in the context of both history and factional agendas. Guest co-host Steve Wiehe will add to the confusion with his observations and readings.

Joining us will be Stuart Streichler. Stuart teaches courses in political science and law at the University of Washington. Before his academic career, Streichler clerked for a federal appellate judge and then practiced law in Washington, DC, where he participated in briefing the Supreme Court. He is the author of Justice Curtis in the Civil War Era: At the Crossroads of American Constitutionalism (University of Virginia Press, 2005), a book that analyzes the Supreme Court in another contentious period in American history. Besides numerous scholarly articles, his commentaries on law and politics have appeared in the Miami Herald, Legal Times, Global Dialogue, and The Nation.

Joining us will be Dan Berger. Dan is Associate Professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies at the University of Washington Bothell, where he teaches classes on racism, prisons, and social movements. He is the author or editor of six books, including Captive Nation: Black Prison Organizing in the Civil Rights Era (UNC Press, 2014) and Rethinking the American Prison Movement (Routledge, 2018). His writings appear in publications such as Black Perspectives, Truthout, and the Washington Post. He is a longtime activist against prisons and a cofounder of Decarcerate PA.

Joining us will be Robert Platshorn. Bob is the founder The Silver Tour, teaching seniors the benefits of medical marijuana. He was featured in the hit Showtime movie, Square Grouper, a documentary film that told Bob’s story from being a member of the Black Tuna Gang to his release from Federal prison. He was given the longest cannabis prison sentence ever at that time, 64 years; he served 29 years.

We'll be talking about last years Solar Eclipse and the Parker Solar Probe which launched on August 12, 2018.

Dr. C. Alex Young is the Associate Director for Science in the Heliophysics Science Division at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. In this role he is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Education and Public Outreach team for the division. He works with the EPO teams as a liason with the NASA offices of Education and Communication. In addition, he works with the division scientists to promote and support their research.

In graduate school at the University of New Hampshire, Dr. Young studied the high energy astrophysics of cosmic gamma-ray bursts and gamma-ray solar flares.

Her twenty years of research into the design and social histories, as well as the material science of matter, can revamp our decision making process. Grace is the Wilsonart Challenges Director.
