On November 3, 1957 Laika, a stray dog from the streets of Moscow became the first animal to orbit the earth. This morning we pay homage to Laika, with the full release “The First Patashnick” by UK synth composer Andy Bloyce and his Soviet Space Dog Project in the
Cosmic Hour. We will also dive deep into Minimalist composer Steve Reich’s 1978 masterwork “Music For 18 Musicians”
along with a new long form ambient composition in the Time Suspended segment from Lou Reed and the latest live recording from Indian fusion band “Shakti” recorded live on their American tour of 2024. We will spread the word about the Zakir Hussein memorial concert next year at Carnegie Hall.
