On Sunday, August 1st, there will be a special edition of ‘Sunday Street’ that will focus on the summer ritual of folk festivals, even though many of them will take on a different appearance this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (there will be an encore broadcast on August 8th) The program will center on the history of three folk festivals --- Newport, Philadelphia and Falcon Ridge, with archival recordings going back to the very first Newport folk festival in 1959. We’ll also share the controversial Bob Dylan performance at the 1965 Newport festival.
