Melting World 4/2/23 David Lindley tribute

https://www.wusb.fm/files/78757_0.jpg

From DJ Ed Roller...

Saturday night at midnight (12-3am Sunday) we deviate from our usual musical strangeness in honor of Radiothon to pay tribute to the recently departed California based iconic musician David Lindley (1944-2023).

Starting in the late 60s with his session work and with the band Kaleidoscope, his music was wide and varied. Among his closest collaborators include Jackson Browne as he was his lead guitarist between 1971-81. Warren Zevon, Ry Cooder, Henry Kaiser, Dolly Parton, Rod Stewart, Linda Ronstadt, Crosby, Stills and Nash and many more utilized Dave’s unique instrumentation on their recordings.

We will play 2 long sets dedicated to Dave’s solo work including an acoustic set featuring his work with Jordanian percussionist Hani Nasar along with a high energy electric set with his band El Rayo X and a few surprises along the way. In the psychedelic segment we will be playing 2 sets from the big San Francisco bands of the late 60’s and 70’s. Starting the show a set of acoustic tunes I love, keep an ear open for Mr Dave on the tune he is best known for.

Please consider a donation to Radiothon, our biannual fundraising campaign. It is vital to the survival of WUSB.

The Kennedys Return to the Sunday Street Series

Sunday, April 2nd at 5 P.M. at The Long Island Museum, Rte.25A, Stony Brook.

We’ve often referred to The Kennedys as the ‘musical heart and soul’ of WUSB’s The Sunday
Street Series. They played our very first show in February, 2004 and have returned many times
for Kennedy’s shows as well as being an integral part of our annual Bob Dylan Birthday
Celebration.

While the pandemic put a halt to live events shortly after our January 2020 show with Pete and Maura, we’re delighted to have them back with us for a live show. You can expect the usual musical brilliance of an early evening with Pete and Maura as well as songs from a new studio album of original songs.

Please join us to welcome them back to our series. (www.kennedysmusic.com)

Advance sale tickets $ 25.00 at www.sundaystreet.org

Tickets at the door, if available, $30.00 (cash only)

The Sunday Street Series is a collaboration of WUSB’s Sunday Street Series, The Long
Island Museum, and The Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council.
