She is a longtime member of Artmakers Inc, an artist-run, politically oriented community mural organization that creates high quality public art relevant to the lives and concerns of people in their neighborhoods. With artist Janet Braun-Reinitz, she wrote the cultural history, On the Wall: Four Decades of Community Murals in New York City (University Press of Mississippi, 2009). Their article "Community, Consensus, and the Protest Mural" appeared in the Fall 2005 issue of Public Art Review. http://www.artmakersnyc.org You can meet Jane and view the murals exhibition at Stony Brook University on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 4:00PM in the Humanities Building, Room 1013.
