We were most honored and excited to have hosted Douglas Tallamy, Professor of Entomology at The University of Delaware, in a Zoom Meeting Tuesday November 10th, 7:30 AM – 9:00 as he presented his New York Times Best Selling Nature’s Best Hope (Workman Press, 2020) to a select audience of policy makers who are committed to habitat restoration, whether local to Long Island, to New York, domestically or globally.

We all face the same problem everywhere — ecological collapse. For Tallamy, “nature’s best hope” is staving off this disaster one suburban yard at a time.

I'm rebroadcasting segments of John O's programming from Monday night's Salvage & Recovery show where he featured "Exploring the Black Lives Matter Movement on Long Island". You can listen for yourself:

Here is a soundcloud playlist of all the interviews from Monday night's show on WUSB Exploring the #BlackLivesMatter on Long Island featuring Terrel Tuosto, Dylan Rice, Shanequa Levin, Ezekiel Torres and Daysi Calavia-Robertson.

Feel free to share and individual interviews might make for good content on the website. Each is between 15 and 25 minutes long and featured a real variety of people on the topic.

From the Hamptons Observatory:
Hi Folks, I sincerely hope that you and your families have remained healthy, are
coping well and that you continue to do so.

On Monday, June 15th, starting at 7:00 PM, Hamptons Observatory will
join the Accabonac Protection Committee (www.accabonac.org) to bring you
an evening of virtual stargazing. Our own Senior Educator and NASA Solar
System Ambassador, William Francis Taylor, will lead you on a
fascinating, illustrated trip through the summer night sky via Zoom.
William will tell you about and show images of celestial objects that
can be seen with the naked eye so you can later go outside and do some
non-virtual stargazing yourself.

For information about the Zoom meeting, please contact:

All the best,

SUFFOLK COUNTY: In Suffolk County, a medical safety equipment drive is ongoing, officials said. The county is collecting gloves, N95 masks, gowns, ear loop masks and other medical supplies. Donations can be dropped between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays at the Suffolk County Fire Academy, located at 102 East Ave. in Yaphank. For large donations of supplies, email FRESfinance@suffolkcountyny.gov.

LONG ISLAND: The New York Blood Center said it is in urgent need of donors, since coronavirus concerns have resulted in "critically low blood and platelet appointments" across Long Island. The NYBC has six centers in Nassau and Suffolk and said safety protocols are in place as they urge healthy individuals, not exposed to the virus, to donate. The NYBC said if you are unsure if you can donate, you can ask their experts at 800-688-0900.
