On Air

Everything Is Broken playlist for 10/19/2010

TODAY we will discuss politics and the arts from the perspective of the Democracy and Jazz project, "Let Freedom Swing". At the heart of this project is retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and musician, composer, educator and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center Wynton Marsalis. http://letfreedomswing.org/

Representing the "Democracy and Jazz" project is Teachers College at Columbia University professor Margaret Crocco. She has also served as editor and project leader for the "Teaching The Levees" curriculum based on Spike Lee's award-winning film, “When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts” - we hope to have time to delve into this project a bit as well.

J. David Gray will join us for another segment of our SYNERGY project. His essay inspired me to create the image "bad girl” - be sure to view the image at http://tinyurl.com/lvgvsr or http://www.jimlynchphotography.com there is also a link to David's other writings at http://word-smith.typepad.com/wordsmith
