Nadia is a third-year student at Stony Brook University, majoring in Sustainability. She has just been recruited as WUSB’s next Secretary! Here’s Nadia’s take on starting her new role:

Q: What excites you most about this position?

A: The possibility of growing the radio station to become a more well-known club on campus and making the voice of the students heard through a new platform that can be heard by more people.

Q: What do you bring to the table as secretary of WUSB?

A: I like having a creative outlet, and that is what this position offers me. I enjoy thinking of new ways of expanding our club, and how we can interact with students and new musicians to make their voices heard through a larger platform. Like everyone in this club, we have a love for music that has influenced who we are. There are more people like us out there within the campus community, and I am ready to find them and learn new things.

Q: What music have you been listening to lately?

A: I have been listening to “angsty girl” early 2000’s – but in 2021 – music, along with some classic French pop, jazz, Arctic Monkeys, Mother Mother, Mac Miller, and Gully Boys. In most of these cases, I listen to one song or album on repeat, but they're all fantastic artists. Nevertheless, I’ve been trying to listen to new and lesser-known musicians because they are often the ones who are the most experimental with their sound. I’ve been starting to make a monthly playlist, so if anyone wants it, I’d love to send it out!

Q: What’s a goal you have for this semester and the future of WUSB?

A: I would like to increase the amount of diversity within our club. In addition to that, I would like to interview more local artists and student musicians. Overall, I hope to contribute to helping Stony Brook students find their voices, and increasing the amount of listeners we have on campus. If we are one of the clubs that has the largest outreach, I think we should use that to our benefit.

Q: Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

A: I like the color green and can hold 8 empty coffee mugs in one hand!
