Our program Tuesday will cover issues like the rightward drift of the one-party system and how urban planners and other professionals deal with social justice issues. Our featured guest is Raphael Sperry is an architect and President of Architects / Designers / Planners for Social Responsibility, a 32 year old organization dedicated to peace, environmental protection, social justice, and the development of healthy communities. His work engages design professionals with issues of human rights in the built environment, especially in U.S. prisons. As an architect he has participated in the design of airports, office towers, and university buildings among other building types, with a specialty in green design, and he has taught green building classes at California College of the Arts and Stanford University. He is currently a Soros Justice Fellow hosted at U.C. Berkeley; he lives in San Francisco. Our music will feature New Orleans R&B legend Allen Toussaint. |
