We have a great show lined up as we tackle the politics and economics of college sports with: our featured guest, Amy Perko. Amy has served as executive director of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics since 2005. In June 2010, the commission released its third major report – “Restoring the Balance: Dollars, Values and the Future of College Sports.” In August 2011, the NCAA Board of Directors adopted one of the report’s central recommendations that will require teams to be on track to graduate 50 percent of their players to be eligible for postseason championships. Last January, she received the NCAA’s prestigious Silver Anniversary Award, which is given to six former college athletes on the occasion of their 25th anniversary from college participation in recognition of their civic and professional contributions.
