About Strong Island Derby Revolution (SIDR)
SIDR is an all-woman, skater-owned, flat-track roller derby league with members from Central Nassau and Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. SIDR was founded in May 2011. The league is themed after WW II military and 1940's fashion and the league's philanthropy is concentrated, though not limited to, veterans organizations. There is no typical roller girl. The league is comprised of strong, intelligent women who share a goal of emotional growth and physical strength through the sport of roller derby. They come in a variety of backgrounds, ages, shapes, and skill levels. Strong Island Derby Revolution vows to follow the guidelines and standards set forth by Women’s Flat Track Derby Association www.wftda.com and is currently a USARS charter organization.
