On Air

Casey McNeil in WUSB's Sunday Street on March 31

Pete Mancini will open this show

Casey is based in Portland, Oregon, where he has honed his unique style, mixing influences from folk and Celtic music, with elements of punk, often generating comparisons with R.E.M., The Decemberists, and The Pogues.

After graduating college with a degree in ethnomusicology, Neill developed as an artist in the underground music community of the Pacific Northwest where he recorded several acclaimed albums with one of them featuring a signature song, “Riffraff.”

A New York stay of several years resulted in a brilliant music collaboration with Scottish musician and producer Johnny Cunningham, yielding two studio albums as well as a live recording featuring Cunningham on fiddle (his last recordings before his untimely passing in 2003).

Neill can also be found on an acclaimed tribute collection of Pete Seeger songs, along with his work on three albums with his band, The Norway Rats, the most recent being 2018’s Subterrene. (www.caseyneill.com)`

Accompanying Casey Neill for this show is keyboard and accordion player Josh Kantor. Kantor is also the organist for all Boston Red Sox home games.

Pete Mancini has recently signed with Diversion Records, who has released a well-received single, “Pine Box Derby” from a forthcoming album by this Americana artist. Foothill Freeway (2017) was Pete’s debut solo album following several albums with his earlier band, Butcher’s Blind. Pete will be celebrating the release of his new single, "My Hometown."
