Schrecker is widely recognized as one of the leading experts on that grim period in our nation's history. Ellen also writes about contemporary academic freedom. Her most recent book, The Lost Soul of Higher Education: The Assault on Academic Freedom, Corporatization, and the End of the American University (The New Press, 2010), looks at some of the recent developments within American higher education.
