Feeling uninspired? Look no further than WUSB’s featured sponsor, Gallery North! Amidst the novel coronavirus pandemic, Gallery North has been working very hard behind the scenes to engage and inspire the Long Island community through a variety of virtual artistic activities.

They have a wonderful new initiative, called ArtVentures@Home, that provides daily activities for kids and for those families stuck at home educating and entertaining their kids. You’ll learn everything from weaving and cartooning, to drawing a face or even a chicken! Join in the fun and check in daily!

Also, every Saturday at 1 pm, join the Gallery for virtual open studio sessions, called Virtual Artist Encounters. These informal virtual gatherings bring you right into the studios of some of the areas most exciting visual artists. They explain their process, share their recent work, and answer your questions.

If you are an artist yourself, you might also enjoy Gallery North’s Virtual Coffee and Crit every Monday at 4 pm. Kick back, grab your favorite beverage and your newest artwork, and join other local artists in a new, virtual discussion and critique for artists!

If you are looking for entertainment for the weekend, Gallery North posts experimental films every Friday afternoon to Facebook. These are each drawn from an archive called “Cabin Fever” created by artist Kate Lain that lists works by filmmakers and artists who want to make their work more accessible for people isolated in their homes.

As a not-for-profit art gallery, Gallery North depends largely upon the generosity of our members. Please consider becoming a member and supporting local artists. Doing so helps sustain their engaging community programs and support their mission: to promote the finest contemporary regional art and craft of Long Island.
