Join us Tuesday May 7; on air and online 1-2:30PM. This program will explore torture, both international and domestic, sanctioned and carried out in our name by the government of the United States of America and it’s contracted entities. This wont be pretty. We will focus on both post-9/11 detainees and solitary confinement in our vast prison system.

Our featured guests are Laura Bownton and Matt Hawthorne from The National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT).

Laura serves as NRCAT’s Director of U.S. Prisons Policy & Programs. She works primarily on the use of solitary confinement in U.S. prisons. Before joining NRCAT, she served as National Organizer for the General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church, building networks among communities of faith engaged in the promotion of restorative justice and alternatives to incarceration. She holds a M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and is a Certified Candidate for ordination in the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.
