ON-AIR ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL

All Day

Thursday, May 12 on Tom Needham's SOUNDS OF FILM: Dinesh D'Souza

In his newest film, Dinesh D'Souza takes the audience on a fascinating journey deep into the 2020 election. Although courts have never found any evidence of massive voter fraud, the film alleges that there was widespread illegal vote harvesting under the guise of "increased voter access," ultimately changing the course of the election.

The program airs Thursday, May 12 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Radio Special on the Gyrodyne Project - Tuesday, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

A Note from Emmanuel Goldstein of Off The Wall

Kyle and I are filling in for Finn and we put together a special on the proposed Gyrodyne project, right next door to campus.

Gyrodyne is adjacent to the Stony Brook Research and Development Park and they want to build a hotel, nursing home, and all kinds of other things on the land which is now mostly open space.

It will be a traffic nightmare as well as a devastating blow to preservation of open space in the area.

We'll have experts from a recent Town of Smithtown planning board hearing where a number of people from the neighborhood spoke out against this. For the second hour we'll have some live interviews with some of the people trying to stop this project.

Among the opponents are the mayor of Head of the Harbor Douglas Dahlgard, New York State Representative Stave Englebright, and Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine.

'Dylan Through the Decades' webcast on May 22nd at 7 P.M.

Bob Dylan released his first album some 60 years ago on March 19, 1962.

He has recorded and performed since then. We will be featuring songs written by Dylan from the decade of the 1960's until the present one. His most recent studio album, 'Rough and Rowdy Ways.' appeared in 2020.

While I hope that next year we can return to our tradition in WUSB's Sunday Street Concerts of live celebrations of Bob Dylan's birthday, I think we have a great virtual alternative for this year when Dylan turns 81. I'm letting you know now so you can plan to join us.

Here are the artists who will be participating:

Caroline Doctorow

Olivier Durand

The Kennedys

Jez Lowe

Ray Lambiase

Rod MacDonald

Paul McKenna

Elliott Murphy

Willie Nile

Tom Russell

Russ Seeger

Sloan Wainwright

Pat Wictor

Brooks Williams

Steve Tilston

The webcast may be viewed on the Facebook page of the Long Island Museum: facebook.com/LIMuseum

We will also post a YouTube link the day before the webcast.

Please join us for this very special event!
