Songs of social & political commentary with Joe Jencks & Rod MacDonald, Sunday, February 10th, 3 P.M

Joe Jencks combines conservatory training with his Irish roots and working class upbringing, delivering engaged musical narratives filled with heart, soul, groove and grit. A co-founder of Brother Sun, Joe merges musical beauty, social consciousness, and spiritual exploration and delivers his vivid songs with a lyric baritone voice. His two recent albums, Poets, Philosophers, Workers & Wanderers, and The Forgotten, (overlooked songs written by Si Khan), have received critical acclaim.

Rod MacDonald was part of the 1980’s “folk revival” in Greenwich Village. ‘American Jerusalem,” “The Coming Of The Snow,” “A Sailor’s Prayer” are among his best known songs with many of his songs covered by Dave Van Ronk, Shawn Colvin, Garnet Rogers, and others. His twelfth solo recording, “Beginning Again,” was released in 2018 with several songs like "The Wall" and "Fake News," inspired by contemporary events. Rod is a regular in our annual Bob Dylan birthday celebration.
