On this day In 1988, WUSB 90.1 FM and the Student Activities Board of SUNY Stony Brook created the world's first Peter Tosh Day on campus, recognizing and celebrating the birthdate of the revolutionary Jamaican artist who was brutally executed in his home the year before. It was a "friend" of Peter who gained access to his home and orchestrated the killing. Tosh's militant stance on the legalization of cannabis in Jamaica and the world has been an important catalyst in reform laws, and it is quite poetic that Canada has legalized the herb just one day before Tosh's "earthstrong". DJ Kibret Neguse pays tribute to Peter Tosh on tonight's show, and the "Blazing Hot" song of the night is from Mortimer with his new track "Careful" - a warning to know who are your true friends.
