RIP Felipito Palacios

Last night, WUSB lost one of our original broadcasters and a dear friend. Felipito Palacios was the host of Onda Nueva, the king of Brentwood’s Puerto Rican Day Parade, an advocate for justice, a cornerstone of Long Island’s Salsa community, and the source of the warmest hugs. He inspired so many of those who volunteer at this station with his passion and support and injected so much energy into our studio walls with his jubilant live sets and hearty laugh. Our radio family is heartbroken and numb; it is thankful for the time we got to spend with this extraordinary man. WUSB is committed to celebrating Felipito’s legacy and we will be sharing our memories and his music in a more formal way both on and off air in the days and weeks to come. We encourage all the community leaders, musicians, and listeners who got a chance to spend some time with him to do the same.
