On Air

Dave Thompson on The Stony Brook Jamboree Monday 8/14 from 6-8 pm

Dave has performed with many legendary bluegrass musicians over the years, and was a mainstay of the San Francisco bluegrass scene as a member of High Country in the 1970’s. Dave found his voice and unique flatpicking style with the likes of Laurie Lewis, Frank Wakefield, and was a member of Kenny Kosek’s band Angelwood. Mr. Thompson will discuss his time in California and Nashville, including many stories regarding such greats as Tony Rice, Clarence White, Rose Maddox, Vern Williams, Norman Blake, and many more.

“Dave Thompson is easily the best bluegrass guitarist I’ve ever played with. Dave can make any five musicians sound like a powerhouse bluegrass band.”  -Jim Moss, High Country Fiddle Player and Nashville Session Fiddler

Make sure to tune into hear this native Long Islander share his experiences as one of the country’s leading flat picking guitarists in his time.
